[Review and Special Price] TCM Womb Care Therapy @ Supreme Q.X. Beauty Spa

When Womb Care was mentioned, what came to my mind immediately was balancing of hormones (primarily referring to progesterone and estrogen), menstrual issues as well as maintaining our beauty from inside out.

My simple understanding of the Progesterone and it it's role from reading "Taming the Dragon" Written by LeAnne Deardeuff, DC & David Deardeuff, DC;
- Progesterone is produced in the ovaries, the adrenal glands (somewhere along your bra line) and in the placenta during pregnancy.
- It is needed to GET pregnant and to STAY pregnant.
- It may also plays an important role in cognitive and memory ability.
- It is necessary to increase the level of Progesterone after child birth, failing to do so may lead to post natal depression and low milk supply. (Breastfeeding moms to note! )

On the other hand, Estrogen is just as vital as Progesterone.
- It is responsible for preparing the uterus for pregnancy, maintaining skin, blood vessels and bones as well as other various functions throughout the body, including memory.
- However, if the estrogen level is too high, it is going to give you problems like:
weight management, weakened libido, insomnia, migraines, fatigue and water retention to name a few, worst scenario would be breast cancer.
- Too low level of Estrogen

If both of the above are not in balance, this is where the fire starts, everything goes haywired.

When I received an invitation from to try out a TCM Womb Care Workshop and therapy session @ Supreme Q.X. Beauty Spa,  I accepted it without any hesitation being a supporter of TCM and natural healing!

Supreme Q.X. Beauty Spa, was voted the most popular beauty spa specializing in TCM Healing Spa Therapy, was founded by Dato Icemichelle Chen, who is a veteran in the wellness and beauty industry with 20 years of experience under her belt. She was crowned Mrs Singapore Universal Beauty in 2013 ! Not only this, IceMichelle had won several awards, read more about it HERE.

When I first saw Icemichelle's picture in the email, my very instant reaction was a "WOW" at her flawless complexion ! You would not believe her age when you see her in real person, I know that it's weird to hear from a woman's mouth but I could not stop but steal a few more glances at her flawless complexion!

This gem is found in the heartland of Bishan, less than a 5 mins walk from Bishan Mrt Station.

During the Womb Care Workshop, I learnt of some ovaries and womb problems commonly faced by most women, to name a few are:
- Endometriosis
- Abnormal growth in uterus
- Cervical / Uterus/ Ovarian Cancer
- Ovarian Swell

Why is womb care necessary and how would one benefits from womb care therapy? I believe it can do more than that but to name a few:
- It helps to improve overall womb health, irregular menstrual cycles and the flow.
- It helps to with hormone imbalance.
- It helps to treat menstrual cramps.
- It helps improve skin conditions like uneven skin tone, pigmentation, dull complexion (seems like I needed it  badly), scars and acne.
- It helps with digestion.
- It detox the lymphatic system.
- It helps to detox the body and helps in flattening the tummy as well!

We were also introduced to Meditrina Ageless Herbal Cream made of 100% Phyto ingredients, which would be used during the womb therapy massage. Some key ingredients in the cream included Fenugreek, Discorea, Grapeseed Extract, Chasteberry as well as Geranium oil.

The womb care therapy took around 45 mins. It began with the therapist warming up the meridian points on my back and certain parts of my legs to stimulate blood circulation. I felt hot sensation on the various points as she went along. Probably my tolerance level is higher, took quite a few attempts at certain points for me to feel the hot sensation.

When she started to "work" on my tummy, the moment she pressed, I could feel my tummy letting out some rumblings. I was told that my tummy was pretty bloated which was true because I hardly feel like eating nowadays or probably too tired to eat! I could even felt my own pulse at the pulse points.

Next, my womb area and thighs were worked on with firm yet comfortable circular strokes. I was glad that the therapist told me that my womb is still pretty healthy and pretty much in place. During the process, no pain was felt as compared to some clients whom she massaged for. She shared with me that some would have felt some pain when she pressed down halfway but she could actually went down pretty in depth for me. Cheers to a healthy womb for now and hope it maintains this way!

At certain points where the lymphatic points were, I felt some bearable aching sensation which was deem to be normal. Overall, the massage was pretty comfortable, a totally different kind of massage from the usual shoulder and back massage. The rumbles from my tummy were gone, I felt less bloated.

After the massage, I was served a warm bowl of Chinese dessert and a hot cup of tea. This is how Supreme Q.X. Beauty Spa pampers their clients after a session!

I had the opportunity to do a Meridian Energy Value Testing. I was told to hold on to this metal rod, then the staff used another tool and positioned on a few points on my hand and foot lightly, while the software did the "reading".

.

She had shock when the results were out, my readings were mostly in the red alert zone (especially so for the meridian that links to the liver, heart and Kidney if I did not interpret it wrongly) .  The report is a good indication of telling me that my body is in distress after having only 2 hours of sleep every night for the past three weeks.

Focusing on the category with the red indication readings at the bottom of the graph, mainly :
- 精神状态比值refers to the Mental State Ratio
- 自律神經平衡度 refers to my Autonomic Nervous System (ANS Balance)

both the above are totally out of the healthy range. I strongly believe that I was mentally stressed out by Vera's eczema flare condition for the past three weeks and due to the insufficient sleep with barely more than 3 hours a night, had greatly caused an imbalance in my ANS. Very familiar terms as the doctor tried to explain how this is affecting Vera's eczema flare. I am giving myself some time to make some sense out of the whole thing. It's a total stranger to me !

Back to the topic, I thank AT Marketing and Supreme Q.X. Beauty Spa for the review opportunity once again ! By the way, do expect some discharge or aching at the lymphatic points that were being worked on for the next two days.

By the way, I did ask if they provide confinement services to help with healing after labour. Do enquire with them for their housecall services.

Here's a special price for the readers who would love to give this Womb Care Therapy a try! Simply call up for an appointment and quote"Blogger Serene" to get the special price of $79 on your first visit.

3rd Eczema Flare - Bloody and Weepy

The past two weeks had been traumatizing, frustrating, teary, scratchy, painful and tired.

Vera, you have got mummy traumatized on that fateful night when I did my usual check on you before I went to bed. I saw you awake in the dark, showed me your fingers. This was when I felt something was not right and decided to switch on the torchlight on my mobile to check on your leg.

To my horror, I saw your left leg, all wet and covered with blood. It was all bloody ..... I froze on the spot, not knowing how to react for that very instant but called out to your daddy to switch on the light and cried at the same time. It was a mixture of emotions, I felt your itch, helpless-ness, pain, the anguish and fear in me. Vera, why must you scratch so hard ?

Daddy cleaned up your drippy, bleeding leg and we were undecided on where to bring you, the hospital or a 24hr clinic ? I was more composed after a while and decided to google for a 24 hr clinic instead of going to the hospital as the waiting time would be much longer.

With a big patch of raw skin

The doctor got your wound cleaned and dressed. You walked with a slight limp with the bandaged leg for that night.

Mummy had to pluck up the courage to change your dressing for you the following day as I was so afraid of hurting your wound further. Thankfully,  I managed to change without much fuss from you though the gauze did stick onto some part of your wound.

The wound was much better after the third day.

But I guessed it was really terrible for you. You scratched on your wound yet again. Probably, it's really too much for you to take, you would rather let the pain numb your itch instead.

Few days later, history repeated but this time, you did it on your right leg and ended up with two bandaged knees.

Luckily, I got a tube of La Roche- Posay from #Repairmyskin campaign ran by The Loving Mum. The only cream that soothed your raw wound. I tried some other creams but you cried in pain. I decided to purchase a much bigger tube since this was working well for your wet wound.

The wound on the left leg was dried up by the next day. I have no issues showering you.

Rashes started to spread across your front body and back. Your tender skin changed and felt like crocodile skin instead. The thighs were not spared as well.

Mummy felt "painful" to touch when I have to apply the creams for you.

I tried ways to soothe your itch. I made Rooibos tea and fridged it to make it cold. It did help when I used it to spray and cool down your burning skin.

It has been for two weeks, every night, our sleep and yours were badly interrupted by your itch. You would wake crying, fussing, trying to pull your pants off with all your might so that you can scratch.

On most of the nights, your scratchy time was usually around 12 midnight to 6am before you were really tired and fall back to sleep. There were moments too that you were so tired from battling the itch that you would fell asleep when I was massaging you.

My greatest nightmare came when I saw red patches appearing on your face. The skin started to peel and I was really crossing my finger that your face would not be as bad as your body.

One evening, I was looking at you while you were fussing away (assuming that you are complaining about the itch), mummy could not hold it anymore. I wished I could take your place, bear the itch and pain for you. Mummy cried as I looked at you, I felt so helpless. You felt my sadness and immediately pulled me close to you and gave me your most comforting hugs. I am typing this post with teary eyes as I recollect this scenario.

I hope you would not blame mummy for making you endure the harder journey to recovery. A lot of mummy's friends felt for you and asked me why did I not want to use steroid cream to hold it down?

I have tried it on you when you were a baby, the steroid cream did not work and it thinned your skin instead. Instead, Calecim back then did helped but not for this time.

This was why I chose to take a steroids free journey for you to recover. It is going to take a much longer, harder and painful time but trust mummy that I just want the best way for you to recover, without any steroids intervention.

The route to recovery as per the doctor is about 6-9 months and mummy is bringing you thrice a week for your treatments and will stretch as you get better. Mummy is still observing on how your body reacts to the treatments. It is just like a roller coaster. Just yesterday, you scratched badly on your labia and it bled on both sides. It made things even more challenging as it is going to be very painful when it is in touch with your pee.

Mummy is also harbouring the thought of potty training you so that I can air your wound, not forgetting that there are cracks under your butt cheeks as well. So far Myrrh and Rose Ointment did a great job for this wound.

You are now under going some electromagnetic wave treatment and mummy did saw a vast improvement on your crocodile skin. After the fourth treatment, the crocodile like skin on your body seemed to disappear overnight and got smoothen out. I finally saw your beautiful smile again after so many days. Get well soon, Vera !

Not forgetting to thank yiyi for bringing down the teabags and leggings, Aunty Sabrina for brining us some sprays, body wash, Aunty Mabel for the bottle of korean bamboo salt as well as all other aunties and uncles who dropped mummy a message to ask about you and gave you all their well wishes for a speedy recovery.

And Mummy got pretty lots of PM on doctors, products and supplements recommendation to help with your condition. I really appreciate it and will keep all these suggestions in mind. =)

* I have also updated some information some time back in her second eczema flare in Dec 2015, if you have not read it*

Hideaways - Creating with Nature @ Playeum

[Media Invite]

Playeum - Singapore's first Children's Centre for creativity, set up by an award-winning non-profit organisation, has opened its second hands-on exhibition titled "Hideaways - Creating With Nature", suitable for children (Age 1-12 ). This immersive experience invites children to explore, observe, construct, reflect, innovate and engage with nature and natural materials through hands-on exhibits and interactive artists’ installations.

Quite a distant away from where I am staying, hence I have to really find the right time and day to pay our visit. Tucked away within Gillman Barracks, Playeum is not as in accessible as it seems to be. It's probably about a 5-8 mins walk in from the main road (PSA Building is just right opposite). I took a cab there but walked out to take a public transport to Vivocity.

You would be expecting the following installation:
Creature Cave

Vera and the over aged baby, Xav made their first exploration at this station while I was registering at the counter.

In the "cave" laid a multi-sensory installation where young toddlers can explore a range of textures, lights and animal sound pads, using their sense of touch, sight and hear !

The Dark Space

Coincidently, Xav had a matching colour tee with the glowing insects! Kids can enjoy kinetic artwork and the sensors can activate sounds of nature via movement. There will be a change of exciting hands-on activities during the span of this ongoing exhibition.

Xav's sharing: This is a room that makes things glow in the dark! To play, you can stick the fabric strips from one place to another, to make a spider web. You can also put some insects onto the 'web' pretending that it's their habitat.

Coming out from The Dark Space, turn left and you will see this section:
On the left :  Knock, Knock! Who lives there ?
In the middle : Welcome to my World
On the right : Make- Believe Hideaway
On the far right : Sounds of Earth : Nature Ensemble

Knock, Knock! Who lives there?

I guess this would be what you see - a heavily condensed window after a heavy shower. But look, who did we spot at the Spider Hotel ?

An area where you could see insects and other creatures in their natural habitats and get up-close and personal with them on special surveillance screens. If you have a favourite insect, write and drop them a postcard!

There was also a Bug Hotel built specially for the creepy crawlies ! We were unable to have a clear view and I concluded that it's really not a good day to visit on a rainy day.

I love this station the most and if you have a budding entomologist wanna-be, bring them here! We got a close up view of the insects using the projector and magnifying glasses !

My Bug Investigator

Make a guess which insect does this part of the wing belongs to ? Draw it down on a piece of paper and clip board provided.

Hawk Moth

Rhinoceros Beetle

While Xav was busy getting close to view the insects, Vera was happily helping herself to fit the tiles into the empty spaces at the Sensory Bug Hotel.

Sensory Bug Hotel

Tiles filled with different textures made of natural materials for some sensory touch.

Welcome To My World

Children can be their own engineer and construct their own shelters. This area allows children to let their imagination run, as if they are an insect,, exploring through this giant installation as it grows through the exhibition duration. Sticks, strings and cable ties made available to help with the construction. Note that you cannot bring it home, it is supposed to be left at Playeum for the structure to "grow".

Natural and recycled materials were made available too. Flowers, recycled cardboard, strings

Why I love this play space was simply because the children were allowed to play freely ! Nobody will tell them "you cannot touch this or you cannot touch that". Playeum strongly encourage children to use explore with their senses.

Vera loved making sound from the wind chimes made of natural materials. You can sway them or use the sticks on the left and gently hit to create sound.

Make- Believe Hideaway

This is one of the Playeum's art and craft play areas! Imagine yourself as an insect and create your very own habitat !

Her facial expression showed that it was her first encounter with clay. Perhaps it is time to get her a table mat and work on it at home.

The collaborative effort by all the visitors. If you are done, stick your creation on a stand for display with the rest of the creation.

Sounds of Earth - Nature's Ensemble

Create your own musical instrument ! I was so amazed that the empty Buah Keluak Nuts actually produces castanets sound alike sound ! This big working space is for visitors to make their creations. I went a little too late as it was a rainy weekday. By the time, we were done with other stations, we had to call it a day.

Try shaking this cluster of Buah Keluak Nuts ! Pretty creative idea to make it into a musical instrument or a wind chime. To those of you who often cook or eat Peranakan dishes, don't throw these shells !
Buah Keluak Nuts

Visitors are more than welcome to utilize these materials . Just do not waste them by throwing around as these were all either self collected or donated by other organisations.

The diy musical instruments will be added to "The Sound of Tunnel" located just right outside Playeum.

Remember to apply some insect repellent if you or your kids have insect bites allergy. Xav received a few kisses from the mozzies out there. After all, it's in the nature, so be prepared.

Sea shells wind chime
