Changi Christmas 2013 with SpongeBob SquarePants - Activity for "SCHOOL OUT" Day 6

Nothing beats going on an impromptu playdate with C at Changi Airport T3, where you be greeted with the biggest SpongeBob SquarePants Bouncy Playground at the Departure Level.

SpongeBob SquarePants Bouncy Playground

Simply spend a minimum of S$20 in a single receipt (S$15 for Changi Rewards members). Do note that children under 1.2 metres are not allowed on the slide as the two darlings were rejected by the staff. But they were pretty cool about it and bounced themselves away in the Pineapple House Maze and Krusty Krab Ball Pit. We queued about 1.5 hours for this 10 mins play (infact 20 mins because two daddies were on queuing duties !!

Finally, our turn is near !
While waiting, C & Xav went to SpongeBob's interactive Pineapple House !

The interior
We "beo" them from the screen outside the room.

Do pop by the room and you see some pretty cool optical illusion effects from within.

There are also show times, lighting up the Pineapple House  at different intervals. Show times are : 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm (daily). Dance around and catch those smoke bubbles ! But be sure that they do not burst right into your eyes as it can be pretty uncomfortable.

Catch those smoke bubbles !

During the show time, tokens will be given out to members of public, if you managed to get them, you can exchange them for giveaways. We did not queue for this though as the queue is mad long !

Then, C and Xav proceeded to the Santa Claus Village and got up close and personal with ...

Santa Claus Village
 Santa ! You can catch Santa's appearance from : 3pm – 9pm (21 Nov – 26 Dec 2013) .

The kids explored Santa Claus Hall and the Mail Room, unlocking secrets about Finland.

Outside the log house.

Giving Snowman their big warm hug

The kids' had fun and do you know among all of Xav's friends, C is the only one whom he plays with without any problems of fighting over toys nor any argument ! Love their chemistry ! Both of them have no issues in giving in to each other at all ! Hope they will be the best playmates always and cherish this precious friendship !

This event will be here from 15th November to 5th Jan 2014 ! Happy Holidays !

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree ! Activity for "SCHOOL OUT" Day 5

Xav has been bugging me to make a Christmas tree out of his Hama Beads. I was thinking that I do not have that template, why not let's make something else out of the foam !

He got a rare chance to use my die cutting machine. We cut some greens and reds and a single yellow star to top the tree !

I will normally utilise the empty wall spaces around the house.. I have a calendar chart on one side of the wall and the opposite sits his hot wheels hot tracks ! We found an empty area just outside his bedroom to stick and form the mini Christmas tree. Using some washi tapes, I cut and rolled them into a "double sided" tape and sticked on the stars.

We used some Woodgraine washi tape to complete the Christmas Tree ! Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas Tree, of all the trees most lovely !

I intended to print some photos of each individual in the family, cut out and stick onto the stars. This way, it doubles up as a family tree too isn't !

All you need is :
1. Red and green foams
2. Star shape cookie cutter if you do not have a die cutting machine. (Just press the cookie cutter on the foam and cut along the shape !

Happy crafting !

Explore ! Activity for "School Out" Day 4

Day 4 of "SCHOOL OUT" and where did we land up at ? The kids friendly - EAT.PLAY.LOVE Café which I went before a few times (My previous post here).

What a rare occasion to come out with two of my besties and their kids for a lunch & craft session before we head on to explore the vicinity of Arab Street.

Kids are just simply so easy to satisfy ! He made some star themed craft and made a bracelet for me. Thanks Esther for the shots !

After the crafting session, we took a walk around the vicinity. The first shop we stumbled upon was "Rich & Good Cake shop which specializes in their cottony, soft, Swiss rolls !

By the time we placed our orders, they were only left with Blueberries and Chocolate flavour. Seems like Kaya and Durian flavours are their top selling from what I gathered from my facebook page.

Then, we found a stall located directly opposite the rear of the Sultan Mosque that sells these traditional games played in the 80's like Kuti Kuti, Chapteh, Spinning Tops, Goli (marbles), Old Maid Cards Pack, Blow up Paper Ball, Blowing Balloon, Pickup Sticks etc ...... Further down after a left turn, there is a shop that also sell the same things but with more variety.

Games from the 80's
I bought a box of the Blowing Balloon that I played during my childhood minus the Goli for some fun !

Our buys for the day !

Abubble like balloon that doesn't burst!
Simple happiness by just keeping the balloon in the air !

Happiest !

We will be back again ... for the Swiss Rolls !!

Fingerprints fun ! Activity for "School Out" Day 3

Where is thumb man ? Where is thumb man ? Here, I am ! Here, I am !

Another fun activity which you can do with just some washable ink pads and a piece of paper and the ten fingers !

You can choose to have a picture printed out black and white and let the kiddos' fingers do the stamping to fill in the colours.

Alternative, you go for free play and allow the kids to stamp anywhere they like ! Let them add on hats, facial expressions etc and form a picture with a  story line ! Happy stamping !

Build your own City - Activity for "School Out" Day 2

Yes it's Washi play again ! This time, I allow Xav to use the road tape to build roads for his city.

It's totally up to his own creativity to form the roads he wanted and I got him to tell me the directions from "driving" from Spot A to Spot B. Good way to train him up to give instructions or directions.

He built his own building with Citiblocs as well and uses the houses and apartment from Monopoly for the formation of his city !

If you do not have a road tape, simply just use a black tape and draw white dotted lines on it if you want.

If you have missed our previous post, here are some ways you can use Washi Tapes !

Unleash their creativity this holiday !!

Our Felties Ocean - Activity for "School Out" Day 1

The start of the school holidays is always a headache to me when I was still working. All the aimless playing and sticking with the helper for the whole day until I knock off, always depressed me and made me wish silently that if only I can stay home to be with Xav.

Well, sort of my wish was fulfilled this time round as I'm still on maternity leave. But it does seem challenging to me as well because now I have another baby to take care of. Hence, time spent with Xav is also limit to how much free time I have remained after doing all the chores, preparing meals, washing up after meals plus the preparation of activities for Xav.

Anyway, here I am with this piece of pretty felt which I bought from a flea market. My intention was to cut it up for an Ocean learning theme and to sew these felts on plain shirts or rompers as appliques thereafter.

I kept the cover for my sofa when we discarded the sofa away as it was still pretty new. I used the black cover as the "sea" for marine felts.

For younger kids, they can use the felt to design an ocean world of their own.

Or tape a paperclip behind the cut out with a stripe of washi tape and there we are ready for a fishing game !

Look mummy ! I caught a whale !

If you do not have these felts, cut out fishes from print out is another alternative to make your own set of fishing game ! Simple theory of magnetic force can be taught as well !

Do share what activities do you play with your child at home during this school holiday.

Our little cupcake's new milestones !

Coming end of Nov, you are turning 4 months old ! Still as smiley and squeaks in satisfaction after your milk feed when mummy talked to you. Full of expressions and loves to give funny faces at times !

For morning naps, after about 1.5 hours of wake time (milk feed + play), you will want to take your nap. Sometimes, mummy realised that you do not need me at all or rather, you prefer to sleep on your own (most of the time tummy down) than having mummy to carry you.

For bedtime, your tend to be feeling more insecure. You would prefer mummy to be there. At times, Daddy had tried putting you to bed but you simply refused and continued to cry. The thing that amazed me was the very moment mummy laid down beside you, held onto your tiny hand, you knew that it was me and within a minute or less, you just fell asleep.

You have totally rejected bottles two weeks after Meijie went back. We have tried giving you different kind of teats, trying so hard to find out which you would prefer. But you totally said no to all and wants only a special brand - Mummy Serene's Brand !

Just biting onto the teat and giving us your playful smile

Daddy had even bought the most expensive milk bottle - Comotomo among all that you have. You started off with Avent perfectly fine. But you has chose to be persistant, rejecting Pigeon and NUK as well. Mummy's biggest concern is your weight and your tiny frame. You were underweight when I brought you for your jab at your third month. The doctor could not even prescribed you with any paracetamol. You were feverish the next day, all I could do was to rub peppermint oil under your feet. It was under control and thankfully, after two days, your fever was gone !

One of the must have in the home's first aid kit.

You love to suck your fists & PLUCK your hair !!! The middle part of your head by the sides were almost bald and we have decided to bring you for a shave once you turn four months old.

@ 3 months old

You love the Alphabet Song and the picture below showed how you laughed and smiled as we sang along, clapping with your fists !

You chuckled during our mini dialogue sessions as you fixed your eyes on me, kicking your legs vigorously!

Your little eyes started to follow objects. Mummy will use a rattle and shake above you, training you to be focus and follow the sound of the rattle and yes, you could do it.

We started our mini reading session. It's never too young to be introduced to books. Mummy bought some Black and white books for you to kick start with.

At your 106 days old, you hit a new milestone, by lifting up your head high and strong ! And you gave me another surprise the next day when I had you tummy down when you were sleeping, fifteen minutes later when I went in to check on you, you had wriggled your way up to the top of the bed and you had managed to flip over by yourself and slept on your back !

Pumping position down !

Tummy time has became more fun for you !

In two more weeks, you be four months old ! Keep on smiling !

With love from Daddy, Mummy and Gor-gor !

Get crafty @ Artz Graine !

Nestled within the community, Artz Graine is conveniently located at the ground level of Esta Ruby Condominium. Last Saturday, we got crafty together with Peipei and Haohao @ Artz Graine.

Winter Wonderland was the project for that afternoon. Good to make it for a table centrepiece !

Teacher Jenny's sample

Step by Step, Teacher Jenny explained and guided the kids in colouring and cutting. They cut, painted, coloured and glued the pieces together,

Until both Xav and Peipei decided to paint their fingers blue !! Thankfully, Teacher Jenny was patient enough with them !

The challenging part comes when the kids are required to draw an identical snowman. See what Xav commented!

Relax ! No stress ! Haohao had something to make you laugh !

The completed Winter Wonderland by done by Xav!

Subsequent project was on Cartoon Illustration - Minion. One of the most popular and well liked characters by both adults and children ! Bee - Doo, Bee - Doo ! One of Xav's favourite and he finished while yakking non stop !!!

His completed work was made into a head gear ! From his smile, you could guess how much he loved it !

If you have not seen Minion with a moustache, there is one here !  We called it the Minion Papa !

Minion Xav and his Winter Wonderland !
